I had a pineapple memory spotting a while ago, and here it is. Sugihara deflects unwanted physical closeness with a gifted pineapple in GO (2001). The pineapple is not only a suitable birthday present, but also a very useful social tool.
Also, this fantastic scene:
Accidental trivia time! This gif is magically in perfect synch with Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River, something I happened to find out whilst nostalgia-trippin' JT's brilliantly malicious and creepy music video after watching Richard Ayoade being perfect in Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Pineapple spotting screen-shot: 14
Finally saw Made in Dagenham on Sunday. Not only a good film (thanks Mark), it also features a few precious seconds of interactive pineapple. Them women got a lot to be proud of.

Pineapple screen-shot: 12
More pineapples in "Pushing Daisies", real ones this time and a beautiful screen-shot if I may say so myself. Second season, ep 7: "Robbing Hood".
(I'm working, honest! Only pineapple spotting whilst dining, really... anyway, hardly your business.)

Pineapple screen-shot 11
Illustrated pineapple in "Pushing Daisies", my latest major distraction from THINGS I SHOULD BE DOING.

Pineapple screen-shot 10
So, I now have Netflix and holiday free time, which I should devote to studious studies and hardly working, but somehow I keep watching things of various qualities. In a classic spout of rebellious disobedience (The Good Doctor said "no") I watched New Year's Eve, and it was bad. But no cloud without some bling; a forest of pineapples!
Pineapple screen-shot 9
From the film "Happy Endings", which I thought I wouldn't like but then ended up kind of liking, I think. But most importantly: pineapple-shaped fruit! Note: the film stretched over an amount of time, could have been a week, but more likely a month, and the pineapple didn't move from that spot the whole time. Stationary pineapple, sloppy mise-en-scène!

Pineapple screen-shot 8
No judging, I had too much time this summer to waste on silly things, and I followed Teddy's journey from the closet to the world on the new 90210. Trivia time; this is the episode where they finally got anywhere with that particular plot line, and so pretty much the reason why I saw a whole season of Beverly Hills. I can't believe I've ever had that much time. Totally worth it: pineapple ahoy.

Pineapple screen-shot 6
Boundless joy when I stumbled across this glimpse of pineapple in Brad Bell & Jane Espenson's internet show "Husbands".

Pineapple screen-shot 2 & 3
Psych is the origin of this pineapple nonsense, you should know. Here are two of the many many pineapple appearances in that show. I'm thinking about using both, because the first one is the very first time a pineapple appeared (Roday freeform) and the second is from a much later episode with some excitement in the background, which makes me want to keep it in. As it is two different episodes from the origin show, I might allow it. It's good to make the rules.

Pineapple screen-shot 1
Saw a pineapple today, whilst nostalgically going through some old Sabrina the Teenage Witch, inspired by my flatmate who's been doing the same the whole week.. although with less attention put to spotting fruit.
Pineapple spotting form
I'm tinkering on a silly little side-project this my big graphics project year. It's called "pineapple spotting" and you're all invited to join.
This is how it works: whenever I see a pineapple in a scene on telly or in a film, I make sure to by any means necessary grab a screen-shot and note relevant information, like so:
Later I will make etchings/aquatints based on these and put the whole thing together in the shape of a neat book.
Congratulations, you're now part of it. Next time you see a pineapple on telly, you WILL notice it. And you WILL fill out one of these shiny forms, and you WILL bring it back to me. There, that's all for today's superliminal message.
